Terrace Doors

Frequently Asked Questions

A terrace door, also known as a patio door or balcony door, is a type of door designed to provide access from the interior of a building to an outdoor terrace, patio, balcony, or garden area. These doors are typically designed to offer ease of access, aesthetic appeal, and a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.

Large Glass Panels:

Terrace doors often feature large glass panels to maximize natural light and provide clear views of the outdoor space. This design helps create a sense of openness and continuity between the interior and exterior.

Energy Efficiency:

Modern terrace doors are designed with energy efficiency in mind. They often include double or triple glazing, thermal breaks, and weather stripping to minimize heat loss and prevent drafts.

Security:

While they offer a large opening, terrace doors are built with secure locking mechanisms to ensure the safety and security of the home.

Aesthetic Appeal:

Terrace doors come in a variety of styles and finishes to match different architectural designs and personal preferences. They can significantly enhance the visual appeal of both the interior and exterior spaces.

The cost of terrace doors depends on several factors, including:

  • Style and Configuration: Terrace doors can be single or double doors, with or without sidelights or transoms. Each configuration affects the cost.

  • Material: Vinyl is the most budget-friendly option, while fiberglass, aluminum, or wood doors tend to cost more.

  • Glass Options: Standard double-pane glass is more affordable, while energy-efficient or decorative glass options, such as low-E or tinted glass, will add to the price.

  • Customization: Additional features like built-in blinds, decorative grilles, or custom finishes can increase the cost.

  • Installation: Prices depend on whether it’s a straightforward replacement or involves structural modifications to accommodate the doors.

On average:

  • Standard terrace doors start at $1,500 to $3,000, including basic installation.

  • High-end or customized terrace doors can range from $4,000 to $7,000 or more, depending on the size, material, and added features.

Hardware Options

Multipoint Hardware Door Sets

Choosing multipoint door hardware offers significant advantages over traditional single-point locks, making it an excellent investment for enhanced security, durability, and energy efficiency. Our multipoint locking systems feature three or more locking points along the door, providing superior resistance to forced entry and ensuring a tighter seal against drafts, moisture, and noise. This not only improves insulation and reduces energy bills but also maintains proper door alignment and smooth operation, minimizing wear and tear.
