Cheektowaga, New York. March 30, 2012: Pollard Windows is a proud supplier of windows for Alfred State Collegeโs Green Home project. This green home was constructed by some of the collegeโs students and will showcase many green building techniques. Techniques include energy efficiency and renewable energy sources such as geothermal, solar thermal, photovoltaic and small wind. The home was constructed on the Wellsville School of Applied Technology campus.
In March, 2012 this home achieved a gold certification based on the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Green Building Standard. The NAHB Green Building Standard defines green building for single and multifamily homes, residential remodeling projects and site development projects while still allowing for the flexibility required for regionally-appropriate best green practices. A minimum number of features in the following areas must be obtained to meet the standard: energy, water, and resource efficiency, lot and site development, indoor environmental quality, and home owner education. The more points accrued, the higher the score. Pollard Windowsโ products helped Alfred State College meet the standard as the windows meet the strict energy efficiency guidelines set out by ENERGY STAR.

About Pollard Windows
Pollard Windows was founded by a young visionary with a strong work ethic. Norman Pollard arrived in Canada in 1947 ready to embrace a new life for himself and his family. A skilled carpenter, he taught his wife and children everything he knew about woodworking. And in 1948, the family business was born. The Pollard formula for success was simple: work hard, reinvest in new technology, and give customers more for their money. Today, Pollard operates out of a 300,000 sq. ft. plant and is recognized as a leader in window and door manufacturing technology.
Pollard Windows is committed to the environment and is a member of both the Canadian and U.S. Green Building Councilsยฎ and is a long standing participant in the ENERGY STAR program. Itโs products are engineered to be โGREENโ. The durable vinyl exterior can be easily recycled and ensures the window will last for years to come. The high energy performance not only lowers heating and cooling costs but also the amount of green house gases that are released into the environment. Pollard Windows has been involved in many LEEDยฎ (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) projects across North America which have received the highest certification, Platinum, under this program. Pollard Windows serves both the new construction and replacement window and door markets.
