This year marks a very special anniversary at Pollard Windows & Doors. It is our 75th year since our inception as a business. We were established in 1948 by a father and son team, Norman and Reginald Pollard who had freshly immigrated to Canada from England after WWII. Working out of their 400 sq. ft. garage, they crafted windows and doors for local families with the strict premise of “giving customers good quality products at a fair price”. They soon found success and would expand to a 100,000 sq. ft. facility on King Road in Burlington, Ontario. The business has seen many changes and expansions over the decades and has remained faithful to its original location, having grown in size to more than 300,000 sq. ft of state-of-the-art manufacturing plant.
Looking back over the years, the Pollard family faced many challenges and obstacles as many businesses do. As the operation grew, they learned more how to self-adjust and best serve customers’ needs. Today we witness another success, as a fourth-generation family business – a feat that only 3 percent of family businesses achieve (Businessweek.com 2010). We have more than 250 employees to thank for their dedication and commitment to the Pollard tradition. We praise them for their positive attitude that they bring to Pollard everyday, making our workplace more than just a business and truly like ‘family’. Their hard work has contributed to the manufacturing of millions windows and doors for home construction throughout North America and we are forever grateful for their extraordinary efforts.
We also thank all our valued customers for their years of loyalty and for allowing us to create meaningful connections in becoming a trusted partner in home construction. It has been both enjoyable and rewarding to help achieve their design and project goals in the thousands of residential construction developments across Ontario. We continue to take pride in providing the products you trust and we are forever committed to your success.
Our longevity would not be possible without the support of our local communities where our employees and customers reside. We rely on them for recruitment and for their valued business. In an effort to give back to the community, we’ve had an opportunity to partnered with Habitat for Humanity on some of their local home builds. We recognize their contribution in bringing communities together to help families build strength, stability and independence through affordable homeownership. We are proud of our relationship with Habitat and their mission, it helps to better enrich our communities and give us all a sense of purpose.
Although it’s been a long journey from the days of our inception, we still believe that this is just part of our beginning. We do not know what is yet to come, but we are confident in a bright future as we stay devoted to Pollard’s original vision of providing exceptional value and consistently improving operations to better serve customers.
