With the start of any new year, a discussion about current design trends seems to be a popular topic among industry professionals. There’s a variety of different trends that have emerged in recent years and continue to evolve with regards to windows and doors.
When talking ‘windows’, we are seeing customers wanting bigger openings than before to let more natural light into their homes. Black exterior windows have been the rage for some time and now we are seeing a rise of customers wanting interior black window frames to bring a minimalistic feel to their home. This is usually requested with our fixed in frame products that offer a slimer profile when compared to our fixed in sash products. However, both styles bring a modern feel that compliments today interior decors.
In terms of doors, we are seeing people wanting bold colour entry doors to make their home stand out from others in their neighbourhood. This is a change from the traditional black or brown colours you usually see for entry doors. Customers are leaning towards solid contemporary doors with full side lites or doors with mid-century modern door lites that easily updates and adds curb appeal to any home.
Additionally, people have been integrating the idea of indoor-outdoor living spaces. This maximizes your space for entertaining and accommodating larger groups. To achieve this, customers are choosing expansive folding doors or four-lite wide patio doors to help connect home interiors with exterior spaces.
Overall these trends within the window and door industry has been fascinating and we can not wait to see how it evolves as the year progresses!
